Stalk ‘n’ SlashCinema :: The Body Count Continues… (May, 1981)
No one could have predicted the cultural lightning rod and box office phenomenon generated by Friday the 13th, which quickly earned itself a sequel to cash in. Here, Sean Cunningham turned the reins over to his trusted wingman, Steve Miner, who resurrected Jason Vorhees and set the template for the franchise that would inevitably follow. I, for one, will always champion the first as the best but other would argue that Part 2 is the better movie. And that argument is valid, but as I stated before, I’ve always liked the whodunits more than howtheydunits. And for the record, blasphemous though it may be, I totally prefer Mr. Potato Sack over the hockey mask.
